The third EPILEARN training course will be held at Venice
International University, on the island of San Servolo, Venice
(Italy), between July 28 and August 8, 2008, under the title:

Aim of the course is to teach attendees to:
1) acquire basic knowledge in the pathophysiology of epilepsies;
2) understand the clinical aspects of epilepsies;
3) gain from the mutual exchange of information between basic scientists
and clinicians;
4) prepare a grant application in clinical or basic epileptology;
5) critically evaluate the literature.
The Course is addressed to neuroscientists and neurologists with
a documented background in epilepsy research. Applicants will be
selected on the basis of their CVs; consideration will be given
to ensure participation of trainees from different geographical
origins and disciplines. Lectures on general and specific topics
will be interspersed with interactive seminars, workshops, and breakout
sessions where small groups of attendees and faculty will be involved
in tutorials and problem solving exercises. During the Course, groups
of students will develop a research project under the supervision
of 2-3 faculty tutors. Each research project will be collectively
discussed and evaluated during the last day of the Course.
